What should you consider when purchasing a spotting scope?

Most spotting scopes on the market all share a similar set of features, but there are some with certain features that make them a way better option then the others. Here are the features that you should consider and look for when you decided on purchasing a spotting scope:

Angled vs straight spotting scope
Spotting scopes come in two main structural forms: angled and straight. They both do the same job, and are designed based on what scope users want. The straight scope is eye deal when you want to be looking at something at the level of your eye and the angled spotting scope is if you plan on moving around a lot.

Lens Coating
I highly recommend that if you are looking for the highest quality spotting scope you can buy, make sure to purchase one that features a magnesium fluoride coating. This will drastically reduce the problems you will have with glare and reflection.

Exit Pupil
It is important to purchase a spotting scope that has a bright image and a wide view. Check to make sure that the scope has a large pupil. The larger the pupil, the brighter the image.

Eye Relief
It is also important to purchase a scope with an eye relief that will suit your needs. You have to take into consideration if you where eye glasses and what works best for you. Eye relief is the space between your eye and the lens.

Magnification
If you plan on using your spotting scope to look at targets that are vast distances away, pick one with a very large magnification.
